🌼🐦 Zomertour announcement! 🐦🌼Ik kan het allerleukste nieuws met jullie delen: er komt een zomertour aan genaamd Hummingbirds & Flowers! 🎉De concertjes zijn zo veel mogelijk akoestisch, onversterkt en intiem. We spelen met de hele band, maar in plaats van drums zullen we van percussie gebruik maken, en in plaats van basgitaar contrabas. De concertjes zullen kleinschalig zijn, met maximaal 50 man. En ze zullen op bijzondere locaties plaatsvinden! In museumtuinen, op een landgoed, tijdens een kunstroute.. 💜 Song in the Spotlight! 💜 This week's song in the spotlight: Freebird! I wrote Freebird when I was feeling locked up in the place I was, I didn't feel like there was much room for spontaneity. I came up with the chorus first, because I was visualising what I wanted to feel like. In the verses, I described how I actually felt. And the funny thing is that, while describing that, I started to feel more and more in control of the situation. I wanted freedom? All I had to do was take the lead step out of the cage I realized I built myself. 🦋 The Story behind the Song 🦋 I just realized I haven't done one of these in a while! Today's song: Conwy Bay. Conwy Bay is a song about a lost friendship, while simultaneously being about the town of Conwy, in Wales. Conwy came to represent a place of happiness and hope in our friendship, but it's also the place where I felt we fell apart.So when I think back about Conwy, I'm happy and sad at the same time (like the @spaceykacey song but only in hindsight haha). That's why I feel this photograph by Daniëlla van Lienden fits this story so well: I look back at the friendship with gratitude and a smile, but I'm also sad that it's over. 🌿And also, have you heard how perfectly and beautifully Joost van Es captures the essence of this song in his gorgeous violin solo? 😍The link to the song is in my bio! 📷: @daniella_vl #conwy #music #americana #folk #country #violin #banjo #ninalynn #goldenhour

🥁 Wise lessons from the drummer! 🥁 As y'all might have seen in the live videoclips, I've got an amazing band! With corona, playing live has been difficult lately, which has been hard on all of us. I asked our drummer, Arthur Bont, how he dealt with difficult times as a musician. He said: Being a freelance musician, of course I encountered several times of crisis. I learned that in times of crisis, I just have to keep making music, be creative and stay connected. And what else can we do than believe him? So, we'll keep finding lots of creative ways to share music with y'all 🧡

💜 Song in the Spotlight! 💜This week's song in the spotlight is A Bold Young Farmer! This is the only cover on the album. The first second I heard this song, I heard Eva Cassidy's version, and I immediately fell in love with it. I had to learn it, and when I started thinking about the lyrics, I found that it really fit the theme of the entire album very well. If the album's about finding freedom and one's path, this song is about what happens when there isn't enough freedom, I believe. And yes! We recorded a live videoclip of this song as well! That's where the picture comes from. Can't wait to share this one with you! 😘🌹

🌿 What Tim Grimm thinks about my album! 🌿 One and a half years ago, I opened for Tim and Jackson Grimm. Now, Tim was so kind to write me what he thinks about my album! This is a charming record. Production is varied and rich, and Nina’s voice dares you to not fall in love with it. This is first rate Americana with a wink and a smile and banjos and fiddles and horns that dance over the bedrock of a spot on rhythm section. Many fine songs that weave between pop-folk, but one of my favorites is the haunting A BOLD YOUNG FARMER, which sounds like an authentic English Child ballad by way of Austin, Texas. With the first song: Head over Heart!Head over Heart is the oldest song on the album, I wrote it in the summer of 2018. I was thinking about the way society seemed to force me to think rationally, and I realized that I would love to live from my heart.

🎸 Meet the producer! 🎸 As I mentioned before, Janos Koolen is the amazing producer of my album 'Hummingbird'! We also played the release livestream together. I thought it would be nice if y'all could get to know him a bit better, so I asked him a few questions. "I'd like to think I'm good at listening and responding to what I hear. In music as in life I wantto know what the other person has to say and make room for that. I try to choose the notesthat make the other musician sound better. Rarely do I play the same thing twice. That canhelp other musicians to be in the moment too. It can also mess them up completely. Haha."Some more background info: It did mess me up a few times haha 😜 I get so awestruck by the amazing things he's playing I completely forget I have to do something myself as well 😜
